Verity, the world’s leading provider of autonomous indoor drones, raised a CHF 7.5 million convertible loan. Verve Ventures contributed CHF 3.5 million.

With over 200,000 fully autonomous flights, Verity has established itself as the leader in the autonomous indoor drone space. The seamless orchestration of these drones in live events has been validated over the past 5 years. The technology is now being deployed in the fast-growing warehouse automation sector and has been successfully tested in warehouses of IKEA and DSV Panalpina.

Verity is the latest venture of Raffaello D’Andrea, an ETH professor of dynamic systems and control and an experienced entrepreneur who had a successful exit when his last company, Kiva Systems sold to Amazon in 2012 for $775 million.

Verity has also already attracted key investors such as Kitty Hawk Ventures, the venture arm of the flying car startup funded by Google founder Larry Page as well as Fontinalis, the mobility-focused investment firm founded by Henry Ford’s great-grandson and Ford Motor’s executive chairman, Bill Ford.

Why we invested in Verity

“With the largest number of indoor drone flights and the corresponding data set, Verity’s technological positioning compared to the competition is strong and unique. And Raffaello D’Andrea has already proven that he’s capable of building a global high-tech venture and generating immense value”, says Romeo Bütler, Investment Manager at Verve Ventures.

“Our drones are highly optimized for our use cases. For example, a consumer drone’s life may be 100 flight hours and this is optimistic, while our business model relies on drones that can log thousands of flight hours”, Raffaello D’Andrea told us in this interview.
